"I'm a PC" :P I've always been(20 years and running). The fact about this, is that they actually hired the same people who ran the retail stores from Apple, and that's what they came up with, so it could be that they just have one idea and they followed that, OR yes, they were told to clone the same exact experience/look, they even hired staff from Apple Stores, so who knows!

Anyway, you can be innovative in some other ways, like adding features, making something more solid, stuff like that, you can't always re-invent the wheel, even Apple does it more and more, the thing is that you don't know the companies behind it. Is probably more on the "is only business" side, and on business you can't afford re-inventing the wheel, that's why we feel we look at the same movie always, or listen to the same music stuff over and over again. Sad but true.

Allegra --

Thanks so much! I really can't claim credit for how pretty the blog is.. I have to give that to my friend and talented graphic artist Rebecca Litton of littonart.com

I agree completely -- Microsoft has been playing catchup to Mac for the last several years. I guess their philosophy is if you can create something innovative , let's copy someone else's innovation.

Hey Tammy! Your blog is GORGEOUS!
I loved this post about Microsoft copying Apple. It's so sad but a great object lesson in how important it is to focus on our own distinctive skills instead of trying to copy others. The new Windows 7 is an obvious attempt to catch up with Apple software also. I'm another Mac person and glad to be with the originators. And glad to be confident in the value that comes from being myself and not a knock-off of anybody else. I hope you're having a POWERFUL week! Allegra

Great list, Tammy!

Another free one is Project Pier, which is what we use. It's totally open source, simple to install and has multiple options for unlimited projects, tasks lists, members and clients.

We found it accessible via our cpanel host, although I'm not sure if all cpanel hosts offer it.
